The big kick for Optimist Robotics Project has finally been given! After months of hard work for the organizers of the Optimist Club Lac Masson and for Michel Perrault, computer consultant at the Commission Scolaire des Laurentides, the robotics project is now operational. The members of the Optimist Club, financial partner, students, teachers and the director of the Mgr. Ovide-Charleboischool were present to celebrate the advent of this innovative project in the region.

“I am very proud of robotics project that we present today. It aims to encourage young people to continue their learning and to acquire a taste for study and research. Our little village has very little to offer our young people. Therefore, encourage them to stay here with mobilizing projects!” Said with great emotion the former president of the Club and instigator of this project, Jean Hayes.

Here’s a great video produce by TV Cogeco in Mgr. Ovide-Charlebois school showing our MandleBot in action. Julie receives Denise Roch, Optimist Club President of Lac Masson and Émilie Arseneault, teacher at the Mgr. Ovide-Charlebois School and head of Robotics Project.

Optimist Robotics Project is a technological challenge in the school and in the region. And it is even more a pride for the Optimist Club, no neighboring school has such a project, which will be integrated in various courses of Sainte-Marguerite Elementary School as a teaching aid. The interest of young people to manipulate the robots was evident during and after the presentation!

In the coming months, children will be asked to perform various tasks with robots.
